I didn’t know this actually still existed or, if it did, exactly how to see it. But here is a lousy but incredibly valuable VHS copy of the 1966 TV show with songs ‘Evening Primrose’, starring Anthony Perkins with songs by Sondheim and a script by James Goldman. Presented on “ABC Stage 67” on November 16, 1966, it’s based on a story by John Collier and that’s as far as I’m going because (full disclosure) I haven’t yet watched it and am too eager to do so to continue blogging about it. So watch it and we will reconvene once we’ve digested this must-see invaluable addition to the Sondheim canon for the Sondheim completist.
