Let’s wrap up this increasingly tiresome week of 1970s commercial jingles with a body-oriented two-fer. Above I’ve posted a musical ad for Nivia skin cream. This ad will count as our Friday dance video–I’ve determined that the best way to wash away the weeks miserable news is with a dance and while the Nivia number is stretching it a bit it will nonetheless suffice. Below is an early ‘Leggs’ ad. I always enjoyed singing this ditty in class at inappropriate times, with accompanying flamboyant gestures. I especially liked imitating the sliding blue note on the ‘they hug you they hold you‘ line. ‘We’ve got legs!’ I would shout, in the midst of a geography lesson (or some such). After awhile the class caught on and started doing it with me. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
