For our end of the week musical enjoyment we have a lovely video of Count Basie and Oscar Peterson sitting at duel Bousendorfers and conversing about piano playing. Basie is as sly and monosyllabic as his playing, while Oscar is as voluble and hyper-articulate as his playing. There are any number of videos of this concert floating around YouTube so if you’re interested just let this video lead you to them. I specifically chose this clip because their discussion focuses on Art Tatum, my personal piano hero. (Oscar is a close second). Cheers and remember…jazz loves you–so don’t hate jazz!
