A LITTLE HOLLYWOOD DRIVE IN 1964

To commemorate the year of my birth (my 60th b’day is coming up in a fast 27 days) I’m posting a few minutes of excellently restored home movie footage taken from a car driving around Hollywood in that banner year of 1964. In addition to this being particularly high quality resolution, I note that the person who posted this–only three weeks ago–is offering his services to scan and transfer your 8mm or Super 8 home movies. His work is so good that I thought I’d give him a plug–he explains his whole deal in the text beneath the video. Meanwhile, on the day this footage was shot, a movie called ‘Son Of Captain Blood’ was playing at a long defunct theater called ‘The Iris’. It was an Italian adventure movie made in 1962 that wended its way to the states a couple of years later. On that same day, somebody woke up and read that a movie called ‘The Son Of Captain Blood’ was playing in Hollywood at a theater called the Iris and that it might be fun to go see it. And on that same day it’s very likely that somebody hiding out from the police decided to duck into the nearest theater and wait out the heat, killing time by watching a stinko Italian-made adventure movie called ‘The Son Of Captain Blood’. He’d probably pinched a purse on Cherokee Ave.
