AT HOME WITH THE STOOGES

Though the weekend wouldn’t be complete without some Three Stooges action, I thought I’d mix things up a bit today and, instead of offering a short comedy, offer a fascinating short reel of home movies featuring the boys. These were shot at some point in the early-to- mid 30s and include both Shemp and Curly as well as Moe of course–a rare sighting of all three brothers in the same film. A young, scrawny Larry is part of the fun and the Howard’s father is on hand as well–is that their mother with him ? Can’t tell. Several kids of the stooges make brief appearances and the whole thing reminds you of who they really were; a tight-knit, good humored Jewish family who clowned around with a home movie camera one sunny day in the early days of their film careers. WARNING: Do not play this reel with the sound on. The person who generously provided this material inexplicably added discordant, entirely inappropriate music behind it. Below the video I’ve posted a nice compilation of Stooge theme music that goes very nicely with the images, thank you very much….
