JERRY, WHERE ART THOU?

I missed my Labor Day Jerry Lewis posting yesterday but it’s never too late. Or, maybe it never is late enough. That might be a wisecrack, but I doubt it. (Apologies to Groucho). We can’t miss the tradition so above I’m giving you one of Jerry’s wonderfully dreadful telethon sign-offs.Yes, it’s another performance of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. I wonder what Richard Rodgers thought of Jerry’s take on the song. He never went on record with his thoughts, but I imagine them filled with language not appropriate for a family newsletter…

  1. Woof. I got to work as a cameraman for the Director Paul Miller in the wayback machine, great guy. Later in life I was brought in to Direct the “Cousin Brucie” Morrow’s annual Variety Children’s Telethon which raised over $20M per year for over a decade. A 5 hour live event where I paced my liquid intake and timed the run to and from the nearest bathroom! There is no greater feeling directing a telethon than cueing the LAST SONG, even if it is Jerry doing You’ll Never Walk Alone 🙂
