LITE BRIGHT OUTTA SIGHT!

The main thing I remember about the children’s toy Lite Brite was that it never worked. Not mine, not my friends, not anyone’s who I knew. The pegs didn’t light up, the back of the thing fell apart easily, the bulbs weren’t even included with the set–which led to many kids having very disappointing Christmas mornings. Why did we want it to work to begin with? What fun was there to be had? Was it even a good idea having kids play with electricity? How did this piece of junk last for as long as it did? Above are two commercials for the miserable ‘game’–one from the 60s and one from the 80s. I’m sure I speak for many other disappointed children when I say that we all deserve our money back and a class action suit against Hasbro is by no means out of the question. By the way, in case you’re fearful of A.I. being smarter than us humans, here’s the A.I. summary of the crappy toy.

Lite-Brite is a classic creative toy, first introduced in 1967, that enables users to create glowing art by inserting multicolored translucent plastic pegs into a black, backlit grid. It boosts creativity and fine motor skills in children ages 4 and up, with modern LED versions offering multiple light modes.
