Whoever thought that one day Woody Allen would be even more detested than William F. Buckley? I personally must confess to having great respect and affection for each of these freaks of nature, something that pretty much nobody I know shares anymore. Above we see them in action as they face off on a show called ‘Woody Allen Looks At 1967’. The format (loosely) is a Q&A from youngish audience members about each man’s varied opinions on current day affairs.Watch for Woody’s Israel/Palestine joke–one of his best and likely unrepeatable now. And Buckley gets off a few good jabs at the Kennedy’s, also a topic now best avoided. The whole routine is a bit of a sad reminder that joking about political differences used to be the mark of a civilized society and both mens good humor and delight in each other’s presence is keenly felt. And keenly missed.,..
