Tonight there’s a screening of my 2010 movie ‘City Island’ at Upstate Films in Rhinebeck, New York. I’ll be there with co-star Julianna Marguilies to do a Q&A after the screening. Since you’re receiving this at roughly the same time the screening is taking place–and since I doubt many of you subscribers live in the wilds of the Hudson Valley–this post is not meant as a plug for attendance. Rather, it’s because I found a DVD extras feature on YouTube that we made that I have no memory of doing at all. It’s me, the films star Andy Garcia, Julianna, and co-stars Dominique Garcia and Steven Strait. We seem to be seated at a dining table pretending to eat a meal and talking about…well, I don’t know since I haven’t had the nerve to watch it yet. All I can say at this point is that my hair is considerably blacker than it is now and that everyone else has aged far better than I…especially Andy and Julianna. But I suppose that’s what being a star is all about–being ageless. If you haven’t seen the movie, I humbly recommend it. No, I full-throatedly do so. And I’m not offering that up as an inducement to make me some money. I don’t know who the hell is making money on it these days–my Guild residuals are generally in the two-digit range and that’s about it. Which is better than a kick in the teeth…or dinner on the real ‘City Island’, for that matter.
