Behold ‘James Ellroy’s Feast Of Death’, a fascinating documentary about Ellroy’s search for the person who murdered his mother in late 1950s Los Angeles, an event that he’s written an entire book about and that obviously shapes his identity in so many ways. Ellroy hired an LAPD detective to re-investigate the cold case and that’s what this doc covers. The anecdote that he tells in the first minute of the doc is one of my favorite moments in the history of anecdote. If you don’t think you have time to watch the entire movie just watch the opening…and you’ll be hooked, I promise. Enjoy…
