YouTube is an interesting place to hang out. It enjoys introducing people to material that it houses and makes some curious connections when doing so. For instance, I’ve been posting Fats Waller material for the past few days. When I awoke this AM and logged in I found that they had provided me with a generous supply of Little Stevie Wonder material, based on my ‘viewing activity’. Note that it’s ‘Little Stevie’ that they singled out for me, not just Stevie Wonder in general. After giving it some thought, I think I came up with the thought process by which our Algorithmic host operates: 1) Black singer 2) Male black singer 3) First name makes reference to size (height/weight) of male black singer. So, from Fats Waller to Little Stevie Wonder (two of my favorite singers in spite of their height/weight differences) here we go. This is ‘Fingertips’ as performed on Ed Sullivan’s show in 1963. Dig it.
