Several years ago I produced and hosted a podcast featuring conversations between me and many legendary filmmakers. Among the guests were Mel Brooks, Andy Garcia, Peter Bogdanovich, Randal Kleiser, John Sayles, Mary Harron, John Avildsen…you get the idea. I stopped doing it because, frankly, I ran out of people I wanted to interview. There are loads of ‘up and coming film guy’ podcasts out there but my purpose was different. ‘Veterans Only’ was the mission and alas, there aren’t as many veterans as there used to be. All twenty-five (or thereabouts) episodes are parked on various podcast platforms but as you can imagine, the proliferation of the podcast world has made it damn near impossible for a lone producer/host to get much traction for their product. Nonetheless, I persist in believing that these conversations will be of value in years to come and today I’m SHARING A LINK TO THE SITE WITH YOU. (Caps are for those who are as old some of the interviewees). Explore the whole site–there isn’t really an index per se–and hook yourself into a world of filmmaking as scene from the perspective of men and women who once shot on 35mm, edited on Flatbeds (and in a couple of cases on Movie-olas), and actually made interesting movies for adult audiences for companies like Paramount, Universal, 20th Century Fox and others now forgotten by time. Enjoy!
