Yesterday I posted a commercial from 1956 featuring the all-new RCA clock radio. I mentioned that I thought it was an invention from the 70s, not the 50s, and the above 1974 commercial for G.E. clock radios does make it seem falsely like its a new concept. They roped Sammy Davis Jr. into appearing in it for God knows how much money (for what appears to have been about two hours of work). The word ‘dig’ is used twice, ‘fantastic’ once and ‘Right on!’ tags the spot. Compared with the eighteen year older RCA model, this clock radio is large, clunky and seemingly too complex for its own good. But dig for yourself and see if you find it fantastic. Right on!
