SCTV AGREES WITH ME ABOUT THE HOME ORGAN PHENOMENON…(AND YOU DON’T)

Last week I posted about the now-vanished phenomenon of the Organ Emporium superstore–a result, apparently, of a once thriving appetite among the public for ownership of the cheesiest of instruments, the home organ. To my surprise this post received the lowest amount of clicks I’ve ever received on this blog. (I won’t tell you the exact number but trust me, a documentary about Saran Wrap would have provoked more enthusiasm). So I’m taking a page from the Donald Trump playbook: never apologize, double down, hit back hard, and lie flagrantly until people are too exhausted to disagree with you. Thus, here’s the GREATEST organ commercial EVER MADE. From the wonderful SCTV late-night comedy show of the early 80s, I give you Dave Thomas and Andrea Martin as Tex and Edna Boil, purveyors of ‘Tex and Edna Boil’s Organ Emporium’. This will get the HIGHEST AMOUNT of clicks on any blog ever. It’s the MOST BEAUTIFUL commercial ever produced. And it’s about the MOST IMPORTANT subject in the world–the home organ. Enjoy…and remember, if you don’t like it then they’re going to TAKE YOUR COUNTRY AWAY FROM YOU.

  1. My German grandparents owned an Eminee organ, I think it was. After Lawrence Welk on summer Saturday nights at their place in Silver Lake , Wisconsin, we would have to listen to Grampa play the organ while Doberman Pincher “Blackie” would howl along, and then we would have to agree that this was a GREAT ACT and should be on Welk with Joe Feeni and the Lennon Sisters. Thanks for taking me back 🙂
