THE GARDEN OF ALLAH UNDER GLASS

Apropos of last week’s post about the legendary Hollywood hotel/lodge/bungalow village ‘The Garden Of Allah’, here’s a look at the beautiful model of the place that resided in the Lytton Savings Bank on the site where the GOA stood before being demolished in 1959. I remember seeing this model lit up at night through the bank windows when I was a mere tot and we were living (briefly) around the corner in a very 1960s newish pool-in-center-patio style building, while my parents were looking for a house to buy. Somehow this model fell into private hands prior to the bank being torn down which is a good thing. Given that houses and buildings in LA tend to get demolished unceremoniously, what chances do models of houses and buildings have? For that matter, what chances do models of any kind have?
