Yesterday I provided the mood-enhancing mirror scene from ‘Duck Soup’, explaining that when I’m depressed there are three things that can provide a way out of it; The Marx Brothers, Bugs Bunny and Laurel & Hardy. Today I’m not depressed but why should that stop us from watching a Bugs Bunny? (Not to do so might make me depressed again). Here is ‘Falling Hare’, a wartime Bugs vehicle directed by Bob Camplett, who leaves his signature all over these cartoons. This is a bit of an oddity since Bugs–a classic victimizer–is instead the target of a small creature who victimizes him instead. Nonetheless it’s a brilliant feat of inventive animation and I hope it un-depresses anyone who is depressed and brings further joy to those of you who are already idiotically happy.
