Last week I posted various examples of TV episodic comedy show themes. I missed posting something Friday because…well, because I just missed posting something. Things happen, you know. So we’ll wrap up this theme song stuff with a little bit of ‘I Love Lucy’ history which you might or might not be aware of. Above I’ve posted the end of an episode where we here the rarely sung lyrics to what is arguably the most famous instrumental theme song ever written. Below is another version of the theme, expanded and very beautifully orchestrated for the “Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”, the one-hour (plus sometimes) successor show that followed ‘I Love Lucy’s’ final season in 1957. This is the longest and most elaborate version of the theme and a must for ‘Lucy’ completists. By the way, the lyrics were written by Harold Adamson, no slouch he. Some of his credits include ‘A Lovely Way To Spend An Evening’, ‘Time On My Hands’, ‘Everything I Have Is Yours’ and many others as you’ll see from a quick glance at his Wikipedia page.
